Next Assassin's Creed Game Will Not Be Set In Feudal Japan

Posted on February 24, 2014 by James Conway

The next installment in the Assassin's Creed series will not be set in feudal Japan. In an interview with AdWeek, Ubisoft Toronto executive Jade Raymond said that Japan is not the next location, but would be an interesting idea.

Where will Assassin's Creed 5, or whatever title the next game will have, take place? Only Ubisoft knows and they aren't telling. Raymond did hint that the next installment will take place in her favorite historical era. When and where that happens to be is anyone's guess.

Ubisoft is most certainly listening to its fans and has been taking note of their requests. However, Ubisoft wants to take things slow with the franchise and plan out their future well in advanced.

“When we’re building a franchise, we’re thinking of a whole universe and how we’re developing a meta-story that could live on for many years in games and TV,” Raymond told AdWeek. “If the story has nowhere to go, then you end up with the video game equivalent of The Matrix 2 or something where it’s never going to be quite as genius.”
